The appearance of a huge alien spacecraft in the sky above Earth sends humanity into a state of panic and confusion – have they come to destroy or enslave us, or do they come in peace? A bemused teenager, David,is suddenly whisked into space by the aliens and finds out exactly what they are after, and what they offer in return. But will humanity agree to their terms or fight them?

Rhubarb and Aliens is a fast-moving and gently humorous novella that deals with some of the big issues of our time, such as global warming. With Earth’s future hanging in the balance it may only take the actions of a few individuals to determine whether Earth survives or dies; and David alone is left holding the key to humanity’s fate beyond Earth’s deteriorating ecology.

This little book was the perfect summer read for me and my young people. We read it together whilst camping out under the stars in the cool of the evening and this really made the story come alive! If you’re into a bit of sci-fi and want to save the planet this has to be the book for you. Excellent!
